THE German Short Hair Pointer of Stonewater – Cary, NC

I’m back. Yes its been a while.  I’ve been up to making changes around here.  More about that later.  More importantly, I want to introduce the new addition.  We have recently picked up a new pup.  She’s going to be the best hunting dog in West Cary.  Meet Molly.

We grilled out tonight and I decided to let the camera tag along.  I’ve been so busy with other things lately, I have neglected the new toy.  We grilled burgers on the charcoal mini.  In my opinion burgers are always better on charcoal.  A friend of ours gave us this great little grill as a wedding present so I decided to pull it out.  The mini normally only gets action at the tailgate.  Burgers paired with Ranger IPA.  I highly recommend it.

Wilmington, NC

Some of my closest friends and I teamed up and went deep sea fishing last weekend for my Bachelor Party.  We had two boats chartered:  The Fish Witch and Large Time II.  We left out of Carolina Beach but ended up towards Wilmington before the day was out.  It started out a little slow but our boat ended up catching plenty of Mackerel for the grill later that evening.  The Fish Witch took the prize and we all had a blast.  Thanks Peyt for making that happen!

Stuck In Customs

I stumbled upon a blog today that really got me excited about photography again.  This guy is the king of travel photography.  He has photos from all over the world and he posts something almost everyday.  The art of HDR can really be motivating if its done in a tastful manner.  This guy inspires me to get out there more during my travels.  Even if it means taking away from the precious hours of sleep we get while on the road.

STUCK IN CUSTOMS

Here’s one to look at for today.  I took this while I was walking downtown in Dallas last weekend.  This was shot from the hip just before they passed by me.  After I got home and saw it, I thought it turned out pretty interesting.  I’m glad they never came into focus.

Ken Luallen Weddings – Raleigh, NC

Since digital photography has taken over my life and consumed my free time like I never imagined I have been looking into new ways of becoming motivated to find my style of photography.  Every photographer has a unique way of composing, processing and presenting their work and I am still trying to find that within myself.  I have always been interested in wedding photography.  Lately we have been looking to hire a photographer for our wedding so I have seen everything the surrounding area has to offer.  I have been meaning to make a post about this but haven’t found the time.  Ken Luallen is a full time wedding photographer who advertises work out Raleigh, Washington DC, and Boston, but travels everywhere.  I’m not sure where this guy lives but it doesnt matter.  He could live anywhere in the world and he would never starve.  We tried to hire him for our wedding but he was booked…not to mention the completely out of reach fee for his time.  But he would be worth every penny.  The way this guy captures the emotions around him is amazing.  I believe he was born to take wedding photography.  If you check out his site, Ken Luallen Weddings it wont take you long to figure out what I’m talking about.  I read some of his blog and I know he uses Canon but shoots with Carl Zeiss lenses.  I would love to know how he processes his images but I can tell he doesnt make too many bold changes.  Most of it looks like its right out of the camera.    His portfolio is full of bright, crisp, natural looking photos.  Every shot captures so much emotion.  If you’re getting married anytime soon and need a photographer, you would be crazy not to give this guy a call.  (be ready to fork out the doe, but his work is priceless)  Whatever you are doing Ken, keep doing it.  Your work is amazing and motivates me to stay behind a camera.
